Lakeside Opening at Ellesmere

Owen Paterson was at Ellesmere Business Park today to open the new, expanded Lakeside Coaches premises. Proprietors John, Dorothy and Gareth Davies were present, along with approximately 100 staff and customers.

Owen Paterson said after the ceremony “This is a classic example of an excellent family business. Lakeside have 18 vehicles. They provide a first class service to local schools and other customers and they have survived and expanded, while many other coach businesses have disappeared. I would like to wish them every success for the future at their new premises, which will be far more convenient than the town centre.”

MP opens new coach premises An Ellesmere coach company has been welcomed into its new premises on Ellesmere Business Park by around 100 staff and customers and north Shropshire MP Owen Paterson. Mr Paterson opened the new purpose built premises of Lakeside Coaches, which has moved from Watergate Street in the town centre to bigger facilities at the business park, on Sunday.

The new depot includes coach washing and coach parking facilities and has allowed the company to centralise its services on one site. Lakeside Coaches has traded in the town since 1979 and has 18 vehicles for trips involving local schools and other groups.

Dorothy Davies, one of the company’s owners, said: “Our old premises were far too small for the rate the business was expanding. We need purpose built buildings and it’s so much easier for us all to work from the one site.”

Mr Paterson said: “This is a classic example of an excellent family business. They provide a first class service to local schools and other customers and they have survived and expanded, while many other coach businesses have disappeared. “I would like to wish them every success for the future at their new premises, which will be far more convenient than the town centre.”

The popular coach and bus industry weekly Route One, with a circulation of 4,500 plus, visited the ellesmere headquarters of Lakeside Coaches Limited.

Their reporter Andy Izzatt compiled a fascinating and candid feature 5 page full colour feature article about our successful Shropshire coach company.

The article includes pictures of the new HQ, staff and the management and includes comments from the directors and the general manager.

This piece has provided a useful piece of publicity for the company and new contacts have been made within the industry as a result.
